Author Quest, December, 2014
Instructors

Johnathan Rand is the Author of American Chillers, Michigan Chillers, Freddie Fernortner, Fearless First Grader, The Adventure Club, and other books for kids as well as adults. He resides in the village of Topinabee, Michigan with Mrs Chillers (aka ‘The Snack Fairy) and their three dogs: Lily Munster, Scooby-Boo, and Spooky Dude.

Ann Rowland is the Author Quest Camp Director. She keeps the engines running, and encourages campers to discover who they are as writers. She’s awake first, asleep last, and keeps one eye open in between. When she’s not at Author Quest, she’s a freelance writer.

Who knew that such a dynamic teacher lived just up the road? John McLintock brings his passion for life, writing, and encouraging young people, to Author Quest once again. Caring and funny, John makes his class memorable.

Kim Diment, the illustration instructor for August Author Quest is back in December; this time on Sunday evening with a special video presentation titled “African Safari”. Kim is nationally recognized as one of the top wildlife artists in the country and has been to Kenya many times to photograph and paint African animals.

Dan Milz is a first time Instructor but is a veteran Author Quest Counselor. The natural world is often his greatest inspiration and source for writing material. He’s excited to teach campers about nature journaling so they can capture and remember everything they’ll see at Author Quest. These days Dan’s mostly writing about his research on environmental science, but all of his writing starts in the same place – the small journal he carries everywhere.

Author Quest wouldn’t be Author Quest without a visit from Mike Supernault. Technically, he’s a “retired” science teacher, but Mike will always teach, as long as there are pupils of any age. He drops by winter campto lead a hike into the woods and along the stream, answering questions and raising our awareness of how much living takes place in, and under, the snow.

Instructor photos are selected from previous Author Quest Camps.
